Emergency First Aid at Work
Our one-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course provides essential workplace first aid training. This course ensures learners meet all UK first aid at work requirements, gain key emergency first aid skills, and build confidence in responding to adult casualty emergencies.
Who is this course for?
This one-day EFAW course is ideal for:
- Nominated first aiders in small or low-risk workplaces - small offices, workshops, retail spaces, and similar environments
- Those needing a recognised workplace first aid certificate covering emergency protocols only
Candidates must be 16+ and have a basic command of English (Level 2).
Course Content & Learning Outcomes
This Emergency First Aid at Work training provides all essential emergency life-saving skills for adult casualties. Learners will understand the role of the first aider, including:
- Preventing cross-infection
- Recording accidents and incidents
- Using available first aid equipment safely
Attendees will learn how to assess an emergency situation and give prompt, effective assistance. Skills covered include:
- First aid for an unconscious casualty (including seizures)
- CPR and safe use of an AED
- First aid for choking
- Managing wounds and bleeding
- Treating shock
- Providing first aid for minor injuries (cuts, grazes, bruises, burns, scalds, splinters)

NOTE
This EFAW course is delivered in tandem with STCW Elementary First Aid, so some training scenarios may reflect a maritime environment. All first aid skills taught remain entirely transferable to land-based settings and fully meet HSE Emergency First Aid at Work standards.
