Update Advanced Fire Fighting - Self Declaration Route
Our STCW Update Advanced Fire Fighting course is designed for experienced seafarers who already hold the full STCW Advanced Fire Fighting certificate and are required to renew their competency every 5 years in accordance with the STCW Convention and Code (Section A-VI/3). This refresher training ensures that officers and crew maintain the essential skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to manage, coordinate, and lead onboard fire-fighting operations.
The course focuses on advanced fire-fighting strategy, incident management, the use of specialised marine fire-fighting equipment, and effective response to complex and high-risk fire scenarios at sea.
This is the self declaration half-day route, available to candidates who can complete the self-declaration confirming that they have maintained onboard competence through drills and advanced fire-fighting duties within the last 5 years that meet MCA requirements. This is a morning session only and candidates will refresh and update their knowledge around fixed fire-fighting systems, fire investigation principles, and managing large-scale fire incidents at sea.
Course Content Includes:
- Advanced fire prevention and fire science
- Incident command systems and emergency communication
- Strategies for managing onboard fires and controlling fire spread

This course ensures full compliance with STCW Updated Proficiency in Advanced Fire Fighting requirements and provide an internationally recognised certificate upon successful completion.
